Kara Stevens has a voice that pushes limits and transfers seamlessly into a heartfelt version of the song. For this San Antonio-based singer-songwriter, music has always been her great
passion.
Her recent project of embracing live shows, she is performing at Records On The Wall, The Legacy Of Chet Himes Recording Studio. This is an intimate space that she has built and developed.
She has a way of showing her contributions to such artists as Cher, Pat Benatar, and Stevie Nicks. Following the lead of such vocal trailblazers, Kara has performed with sold-out auditoriums at the Tobin Center and The Majestic Theatre (Empire Theatre). She has been featured as the Singer & Entertainer of the Year in the San Antonio Monthly Magazine and The Renaissance Woman for the San Antonio Scene Magazine.
As a 3-year-old, Kara’s passion for music was kindled by her mother, by being rocked by Elvis Presley’s songs. She was inspired by the passion, emotion, and range of Broadway musicals. Throughout Kara’s life, people said she wouldn’t be able to be who she is now. She was diagnosed with ADD, ADHD, and Dyslexia. She overcame the stigma of learning disabilities through her artistic gifts from God. Her creative talents were shown throughout her time at the University of Texas – San Antonio receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts with a specialty in painting & sculpture.
Kara met Grammy & Oscar winner Producer, Chet Himes. He became Kara’s biggest inspiration as a singer and songwriter. Himes’ phrase, “Sing it to me the way I feel it, Darlin”. This has inspired her to always sing with the deepest emotions that a song can be sung. That is exactly what she does in her original, This Time Around.
